Bethany Lee is a stone carver working in the DC and Blueridge Mountain area where she works on commission and teaches carving workshops. Thursday, April 9th from 5:30-8PM – Intro to Stone Carving at Friendly City Clay and Art Center, Harrisonburg, VA. $75/person plus $25 material fee for stone to be paid at first class. Saturday, April 18th – Beginning and Continuing Stone Carving at Spring Haven Farm (near Culpeper, VA). Cost $150. Time: from 2-5pm with a farm-fresh tea time break in the middle. Carve with the animals watching! Click here for more info and to sign up!

Saturday April 25 (10AM-5PM – Sunday April 26 (12-5PM) – Carve a Sculpture in Two Days Retreat at The Workshop at Timber Ridge. Carve an animal sculpture in soapstone using soapstone blocks prepared to the general dimensions of stock animals. Cost $425, all supplies included. BYOL (bring your own lunch). Prerequisite for this two-day workshop is to have taken at least one class with me as some familiarity with the tools and technique is necessary for the student to have an enjoyable, satisfying experience!

Make your own tools and then learn to carve with them at the VA Institute of Blacksmithing. The weekend of tool making and stone carving returns! On Saturday, attend a blacksmithing workshop and make your own set of stone carving tools from 9AM-4PM on Saturday, June 20. Cost $150.
