Sarah Roosevelt Park Camel

Ah, the camel. So, around the middle of my residency, I had this afternoon where I had set aside some time to paint and wanted to do something really different. Different, but in the same theme. So, natural beauty… what does that mean anyways? Nothing in this painting is untouched by man. It’s all concrete or some other hard material. But, the subject matter is OF something natural. And, he’s just so out of place in the city. I mean, a camel in Manhattan. He made me laugh. So, I painted him.
There was a young girl, maybe 10 years old, who came and watched me paint that day. (The camel was in a playground.) She was very serious and watched me intently and then followed me on Instagram.
